NAMWOLF names Culhane Meadows its 2021 Law Firm MVP for Promoting Diversity and Inclusion

Culhane Meadows is honored to announce that it was named as the National Association of Minority & Women Owned Law Firms‘ (NAMWOLF) 2021 Law Firm MVP.

Co-founding partner Heather Clauson Haughian, accepted the award on the firm’s behalf on October 7, 2021 during NAMWOLF’s annual meeting, which was held virtually this year and marked the organization’s 20th anniversary. NAMWOLF’s Law Firm MVP award is given out once per year and was created to recognize a law firm for its outstanding achievement in advancing NAMWOLF’s mission of promoting diversity and inclusion. Other honorees during the awards ceremony included State Farm for the 2021 Diversity Initiative Achievement award and Vanessa K. Watson of Mastercard for Outstanding Service by an Advisory Council Member.

“Culhane Meadows has done a tremendous job in promotiong diversity and inclusion, fostering relationships between NAMWOLF member firms and with corporations and public entities,” said John Murdock, chair of the board for NAMWOLF as he announced the winner. “They have been business partner ambassadors, participated in our emerging leaders program, and have actively spread the word about NAMWOLF.”

“Our years as a NAMWOLF member have been incredibly rewarding and we are fully committed to the goals of this exceptional organization,” said co-founding partner Kelly Culhane.

“We are deeply humbled to have been chosen as this year’s Law Firm MVP,” adds co-founding partner James Meadows, “and we applaud all NAMWOLF member firms and the corporate sponsors who have come together to make this organization a success. It is their collective work and dedication toward diversity that helps to move the needle a little more every day.”

“NAMWOLF has emerged as a leading voice for challenging corporations and public entities to make real and meaningful change to promote better diversity and inclusion and our leadership team is truly honored by this award,” adds co-founding partner Grant Walsh. “However, recognition for this Law Firm MVP award also belongs to all of our amazing attorneys who share our vision to build a better, more equitable corner of the legal profession at Culhane Meadows.”

The National Association of Minority & Women Owned Law Firms (NAMWOLF), founded in 2001, is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit trade association comprised of minority and women owned law firms and other interested parties throughout the United States. Many corporations and public entities interested in diversifying their outside law firm ranks focus almost exclusively on the utilization of minority and female attorneys at majority firms. Yet the available data strongly suggests that these efforts have not resulted in greater diversity in the legal profession. It is NAMWOLF’s view that the most effective way for corporations to increase diversity in the legal profession is to increase their retention of minority and women owned law firms. NAMWOLF’s Law Firm Membership is comprised of AV-rated firms across the nation that represent major corporate clients. NAMWOLF assists its Law Firm Members in developing strategic alliances, coalitions, and affiliations with corporations, in-house counsel, and other legal trade associations. Through these efforts, NAMWOLF helps empower minority and women owned law firms.
