Candace McCaddon Joins CM Law’s Robust Technology, AI, Privacy, and Cybersecurity Practice

As organizations accelerate digital transformation and integrate artificial intelligence into every aspect of their businesses, the legal issues surrounding technology, data, cybersecurity, and intellectual property have become more complex—and more strategic—than ever before.

To meet those evolving client needs, CM Law is pleased to announce that Candace McCaddon has joined us as a Partner.

Candace’s arrival strengthens the firm’s already robust ability to counsel clients on sophisticated technology transactions, AI governance, data privacy, information security, and intellectual property matters. Her practice is focused on helping organizations leverage innovation while managing legal, regulatory, and operational risk.

“Candace’s practice reflects where our clients are headed,” says Managing Partner Heather Clauson Haughian. “Today, businesses must make transformative investments in technology and AI while navigating an increasingly complex regulatory environment. Candace brings the technical knowledge, commercial judgment, and in-house perspective that clients value when these issues are business-critical.”

A USPTO-registered patent attorney with a chemistry degree and triple International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) certifications—Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM), Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E), and Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States (CIPP/US)—Candace offers a rare combination of technical, regulatory, and commercial experience.

Her practice includes advising clients on:

  • Artificial intelligence transactions, contracting, governance, risk management, and emerging regulatory compliance
  • Robotics, automation, and autonomous technology transactions, including agreements governing the development and deployment of AI-enabled autonomous systems
  • Technology transactions, including cloud services, SaaS, software licensing, managed services, and strategic commercial agreements
  • Global data privacy program development and compliance, including GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, UK requirements, and evolving U.S. state privacy laws
  • Information security, incident response planning, ransomware preparedness, and regulatory reporting
  • Intellectual property strategy, licensing, joint development and research agreements, due diligence, and technology-focused transactions

Candace has represented Fortune 50 energy and infrastructure companies, global engineering and construction firms, European energy companies, and cybersecurity organizations, helping clients navigate high-value transactions and enterprise-wide legal initiatives.

“Clients are looking for outside counsel who understand not only the law, but also the operational realities of implementing technology across global organizations,” she says. “Having spent much of my career inside multinational companies, I understand the importance of delivering legal advice that is practical, strategic, and aligned with business goals. I’m excited to join a firm that shares that philosophy.”

Her move to CM Law reflects the firm’s continued investment in building a multidisciplinary platform for clients operating at the intersection of technology, innovation, regulation, and business strategy. As organizations continue to embrace AI, strengthen cybersecurity, modernize technology infrastructure, and navigate evolving privacy requirements, the firm is well positioned to help clients address today’s challenges while preparing for tomorrow’s opportunities.
