Biography

Candace McCaddon advises companies on complex technology transactions, artificial intelligence, robotics, automation, information security, data privacy, and intellectual property matters. Her practice focuses on helping clients navigate sophisticated commercial agreements and technology-driven business initiatives. She has depth advising companies across the energy, infrastructure, and industrial sectors on agreements governing the development and deployment of AI, robotics, automation, and AI-enabled autonomous systems among other technologies.

Candace brings over 18 years of experience advising clients ranging from small and midsize businesses to Fortune 50 corporations, including sustained relationships with global industry leaders.  She began her career at premier law firms before spending over a decade with corporate in-house legal departments advising on information security (IT and OT), data privacy, and technology transactions. That in-house vantage point continues to shape how she practices today — delivering pragmatic, efficient counsel calibrated to what the business needs, with an eye toward enabling deals rather than simply flagging risk. Candace made that pragmatism the foundation for building a practice at the forefront of artificial intelligence, robotics, and autonomous technology transactions and governance.  Her matters frequently involve multi-year, complex technology and development programs for global energy, infrastructure, and industrial clients, with individual engagements valued in the tens of millions of dollars.

Candace also is a USPTO-registered patent attorney with a background in chemistry and holds three certifications from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) — a combination of rare cross-disciplinary depth. Her privacy and cybersecurity practice spans program development and compliance frameworks under US state and global privacy laws (e.g., CCPA, CPRA, GDPR, UK IDTA) as well as incident response planning, breach notification strategy, and vendor risk assessments. Her intellectual property practice spans patent and technology licensing, joint development and research agreements, IP due diligence, and IP allocation in complex commercial transactions. A thought leader in AI, privacy, and cybersecurity law, Candace draws on her cross-disciplinary experience to provide practical, business-focused counsel on some of her clients’ most complex legal and operational challenges.
