CM Law Welcomes Amr Jayousi as Lender-Side Banking & Leveraged Finance Partner

CM Law Welcomes Amr Jayousi as Lender-Side Banking & Leveraged Finance Partner

CM Law is pleased to welcome Amr Jayousi as a Partner in the firm’s Banking & Leveraged Finance practice, adding significant depth to the firm’s ability to advise banks and commercial lenders on sophisticated financing transactions.

Amr represents lenders on leveraged financings, including broadly syndicated loans, club deals, and direct lending facilities. His focus is covenant protection: the terms that guard a lender against uptiering, collateral drop-downs, and the erosion of pro rata sharing and other sacred rights. Financial institutions come to him to find out precisely where an agreement leaves them exposed and where they sit in the capital stack.

He also works with institutions above the level of individual deals, building the diligence standards and review disciplines that let a bank evaluate credits consistently across a book rather than one transaction at a time. More broadly, he advises across the full range of debt-finance structures, secured and unsecured, syndicated and bilateral, from acquisition and project finance to bridge and mezzanine facilities.

“I’m delighted to join CM Law as the firm continues to build a sophisticated, client-focused banking and finance practice,” Amr says. “The firm’s entrepreneurial approach, depth of experience, and commitment to delivering practical solutions to clients make this a natural fit.”

“Amr is exactly the kind of lawyer we want at CM Law—smart, sophisticated, commercially minded, and focused on his clients,” agrees CM Law Managing Partner Kelly Rittenberry Culhane. “His experience in complex banking and finance transactions enhances our already strong practice and expands the depth of experience we can bring to our clients. We’re thrilled to have him join the firm.”

Amr also brings a distinctive international perspective to his practice. A native Arabic speaker fluent in Spanish and English, he is a published author and former diplomat who served with a foreign embassy in Washington, D.C. Before attending law school, he served as student body president of his undergraduate university.

He joins CM Law from Sanchez Amador & Reyes LLP and was previously with White & Case LLP and Vinson & Elkins LLP. He earned his law degree from the University of Michigan Law School and is admitted to practice in New York and Texas.

Amr’s arrival marks another step in the continued growth of CM Law’s Banking & Leveraged Finance practice, strengthening the firm’s ability to serve clients navigating increasingly sophisticated financing transactions in the U.S. and internationally.
